The questions

The button opens an email to daileyReese227@gmail.com with the subject "Done-for-you book intake" and these questions already filled in. Type your answers under each one, attach any sermons, notes, or writing samples, and send.

  1. Your name, as it should appear on the cover
Include any title or credentials you want used (for example "Pastor" or "Dr."), or a pen name.
  2. Short author bio
Three to five sentences: who you are, what you do, your church, practice, or business, and why you are the right person to write this book.
  3. Book topic and working title
What is the book about? Include a working title and subtitle if you have them. Rough is fine.
  4. Who the book is for
Describe your reader: for example, your congregation, new believers, small-group leaders, your coaching clients, homeowners in your area, or first-time founders.
  5. Purpose of the book
Ministry or discipleship, lead generation for your business or practice, a legacy book for family or community, a giveaway, or something else? What should happen after someone reads it?
  6. Your key message
If a reader remembers only one thing from the book, what should it be? One or two sentences.
  7. 5 to 10 chapter ideas
List chapter ideas or a rough outline, with a line or two on each. If you prefer a format such as a 31-day devotional, a 6-week small-group study, or a practical step-by-step guide, say so.
  8. Material you can supply
Sermons or sermon series, talk or podcast transcripts, course or workshop notes, blog posts, newsletters, client case studies, frameworks, worksheets. Links or attachments are welcome.
  9. Stories and examples to include
Personal stories, illustrations, or client and member stories you want in the book. Note anything that needs permission or should have names and details changed.
  10. Voice and tone samples
Share two or three samples of how you write or speak (an email, a post, a sermon transcript), plus a few words for the tone you want: warm, direct, scholarly, plainspoken, humorous.
  11. Scripture translation preference (if a Christian book)
For example BSB, ESV, NIV, NKJV, KJV, or CSB, plus any theological tradition or positions the book should stay within.
  12. Length and package
Starter ($1,500, up to about 100 pages), Standard ($2,500, up to about 200 pages, published for you), or Author + Website ($3,000). Not sure yet is fine.
  13. Deadline
Is there a date the book needs to be ready for, such as a sermon series launch, conference, event, or season? How firm is it?
  14. Publishing preferences
Amazon KDP paperback, Gumroad ebook, or both? Do you already have KDP or Gumroad accounts? (On Standard and above the book is published in your own accounts.) Will you print copies for your church, clients, or events?
  15. Cover ideas
Colors, imagery, mood, or covers you like the look of. Do you have a logo, brand colors, or an author photo to use?
  16. Anything off-limits
Topics, claims, names, stories, or language the book must avoid, and anything else I should know.
  17. Best way to reach you
Email and phone, your website or church/business name, and the best times to talk.
