Before the Stoics, Solomon
A 40-Day Devotional Pairing Proverbs with the Stoics
by Nicholas Dailey
$12.99 PDF, instant download
Stoicism is everywhere right now, and many Christians who pick up the Meditations feel they've heard it before. Each of these forty short readings sets a passage from Proverbs beside a passage from one of the great Stoics.
You'll see where they agree, and they often agree beautifully, on anger, speech, money, time, and death. Then you'll see where Solomon, and Christ, go further. It reads the Stoics respectfully, without caricature and without baptizing them.
